That front page article really got me. I saw plenty of KODO Mazda 2 when I was in Iceland recently and fell in love. Anyone else been browsing PR dealer sites?

I wonder what the pricing and shipping rates are like there... I have a few loose connections in PR, and my spanish isn’t half bad. I don’t know much about Guam.

You mean like “Hey, mang! Ju wanna buy a car, no flood damage I promise!” or Public Relations?

If you can i mport one of those, wouldn’t a Canadian one be a possibility as well? They’ll be physically identical.

Never launched in Canada.

I’d go brand new from a Mazda dealer more than likely next year. Get a new unsold 2018.

I typically don’t since they generally
have the same cars we have, but I’ve only checked out the Mazda PR site because of the 2 hatch they get that we don’t.

Puerto Rico lmao .

Puerto Rico to mainland USA is $845 (saw that in the article or comments)
from Guam to mainland USA is in the thousands apparently.

Lol, I guess I’d stay away from the PR market for a while. My company deals with new auto financing down there and most of our dealers’ new car inventory stayed well protected, but it’s case by case.
How was Iceland? I haven’t been there in almost 20 years, but soon hopefully...

Honestly I am quite excited and I cannot even afford a new car. I wonder if you can just ask for one at a dealer or if you have to buy it in PR? Probably the latter.

Speaking of Mazda’s current corporate face, t he other day I pointed out a new CX-5 to my wife and asked what she thought of it, since she thinks she wants a medium-small crossover for her next car. Her response was something like, “it looks pretty good but I don’t like all that pointy stuff on the front.” Then a Hyundai Tucson (another option I’ve pointed out to her recently) drove by and she was like, “I like that Hyundai Tucson better. ”
If she can point them out in traffic already, I have a feeling we miiight be getting one at some point.

There was a Guam resident on the other post that said Guam to U.S. mainland was $6,000. Ouch.

I liked the 2016 CX5 face better:

I’m not sure. I’m going to talk to Chuck, the salesman that I work with at the local Mazda dealer. I’m sure they can’t actually transport them between shores, but maybe...

I was there for a couple non consecutive nights when we had to land to re-fuel. I liked it a lot there, stayed around Keflavik. I imagine winter is miserable, but then again I’m from Canada south (Buffalo NY).

My biggest complaint about my Mazda 3 hatch is the size, the front nose is stretched just a little too long and it’s just a little to large for my taste. The 2 is perfect. Sure, I could get a 2011-2014 used 2 around here and I really enjoyed the one I had in 2012, but man the KODO one is just so much more attractive to me.

Yeah, the winter is so bad, I had an Icelandic friend whose dad was one of the most prolific experts on seasonal depression — he studied a lot of US servicemembers there who had no idea how to tolerate a couple hours of daylight each day for several months...

That would be hard too. I was there when there was no darkness, which I absolutely loved. And I slept like a baby, right thru my alarm.

Better get the turbo one. I currently have a rental 2018 Tucson with the base non-turbo 2.0L. I have to floor it just to merge in traffic, and even then it just makes a lot of noise and moves slowly. My 2018 Golf with the base motor feels way faster. (The Golf is doing fine; I just didn't want to get it full of pet hair on this road trip.)
